Who Has The Best Lightsaber?

The Lightsaber.

The ultimate weapon that all of us dreamed to have when watching the films for the first time. We all wished to have our very own lightsaber and live out the fights that we watched on the big screen.

But which one was, THE ONE, that we had to have...

There has been a lot of great lightsabers throughout the world of Star Wars.

Lets go over our 10 favourite lightsabers (in no particular order) and understand exactly what makes them so special.

1. Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber:
Luke Skywalker's lightsaber, formerly owned by his father Anakin Skywalker, holds immense significance in the Star Wars saga. Its blue blade and elegant hilt design have become an iconic symbol of the lightsaber itself. This lightsaber has resonated with fans across generations due to its central role in the original trilogy, the prequels, and the sequel trilogy, effectively passing down the legacy of the Skywalker family. Its introduction in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977) paved the way for lightsabers to become an integral part of Star Wars lore, securing its lasting impact on the franchise and fans alike.

2. Darth Vader's Lightsaber:
Darth Vader's red lightsaber is the embodiment of the ultimate Star Wars villain. Its iconic appearance, with a menacing black hilt and a powerful red blade, represents the Dark Side of the Force. The emotional weight and significance attached to this lightsaber stem from Vader's transformation from Anakin Skywalker and his memorable lightsaber duels, especially in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980). Since its first appearance in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977), Darth Vader's lightsaber has remained one of the most recognisable and feared weapons in the Star Wars Universe.

Since its first appearance in the original Star Wars trilogy, Obi-Wan's lightsaber has continued to inspire fans and remains an enduring symbol of the Jedi Order.

4. Mace Windu's Lightsaber:
Mace Windu's purple lightsaber is a fan-favourite due to its rarity and association with the highly respected Jedi Master. Samuel L. Jackson's portrayal of Windu further endeared the character and his lightsaber to fans. The visually striking purple blade and distinctive hilt design have made Mace Windu's lightsaber stand out among others. Its introduction in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002) marked its place as a beloved lightsaber that has maintained its appeal in various Star Wars media.

5. Yoda's Lightsaber:
Yoda's lightsaber can be described as a simple lightsaber - it isn't the flashiest, there's no argument there - however due to its association with the diminutive but immensely powerful Jedi Grand Master. The lightsaber's unique design, featuring a shorter hilt and a green blade, perfectly reflects Yoda's stature and wisdom. Its memorable appearances, particularly in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002) and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" (2005), have solidified Yoda's lightsaber as an iconic and beloved symbol of the Jedi Order.

6. Rey's Lightsaber:
Rey's lightsaber, initially belonging to Anakin and then Luke Skywalker, represents the legacy of the Skywalker family. As the central lightsaber in the sequel trilogy, it carries significant emotional weight and symbolism. The repaired hilt, with its distinctive metallic details, and the blue blade, originally seen in "Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker" (2019), gives this lightsaber an impressive and meaningful appearance. While Rey's lightsaber is relatively new compared to some others on the list, its connection to the Skywalker saga ensures its lasting significance.

7. Kylo Ren's Lightsaber:
Kylo Ren's crossguard lightsaber generated excitement and debate among fans when first revealed in "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" (2015). This unique design had never been seen before and set the fans into a craze - its unstable and fiery appearance symbolising his inner conflict and rage not only made it a personal and unique lightsaber directly representing his character, but also a work of art. The crossguard design and the red blade with quillons give Kylo Ren's lightsaber a menacing and memorable presence, solidifying its place as a prominent symbol of the sequel trilogy era.

8. Darth Maul's Double-Bladed Lightsaber:
Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber revolutionised lightsaber combat and became an instant fan-favourite when it was showcased in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999). The red double blades and the exotic design of the hilt made this lightsaber visually distinct and intimidating. Darth Maul's impressive combat skills and the impact of his duel with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi cemented this lightsaber's status as a classic representation of Sith prowess and earned it a lasting place in Star Wars lore.
