Blade Plugs

A blade plug fills the empty blade socket when the blade is out — it finishes the hilt on a stand and keeps dust and grit off the connector and the electronics behind it. Ours are sized for 1" blade sockets with a 7/8" option, and fit Base Lit hilts and Neopixel hilts that have a lit connector.

What a blade plug does

Two jobs, one cosmetic and one practical. With the blade out the emitter is an open hole; a plug fills it so a hilt on a stand or a belt clip reads as finished rather than half-built. It also keeps dust and grit out of the socket, where it would settle on the connector and work toward the electronics. On a Base Lit hilt, or a Neopixel hilt with a lit connector, the in-hilt LED shines up through the plug and it glows while the saber is on.

Fitment — will it fit your hilt?

The number that matters is blade diameter, not the name on the saber. 1" is standard across our combat hilts; 7/8" turns up on the eco sabers. Our standard plugs fit any 1" socket and the Obi plug comes in both. A lit plug needs somewhere to draw light from — a Base Lit hilt, or a Neopixel hilt with a lit connector; without one it will hold the plug but not light it. On thin-neck hilts a plug sits slightly proud.

What is on this page

Three products, deliberately few. The standard Blade Plugs range at £9–£15 covers twelve finishes, including Sith and Resistance styles and separate fits for Base Lit and Neopixel hilts. The Crystal Blade Plug at £22 is a crystal-style plug for Base Lit and lit-connector Neopixel hilts. The Obi Blade Plug at £12 follows Obi-Wan Kenobi's Episode I hilt. Finishes rotate in and out of stock.

Looking after the hilt

A plug is not a duelling part. Take it out before you spar — it sits in the impact path and a hard clash can crack or jam it. Past that there is nothing to maintain. Spare blades are in saber blades, and the rest of the hardware sits under lightsaber parts and accessories. If one arrives damaged or does not fit as described, email repairs@padawanoutpost.com — we have in-house UK technicians.

Blade plug FAQs

What is a blade plug?

A short fitting that covers the empty blade socket of a hilt once the blade is removed. It finishes the look and stops dust getting inside.

Do I actually need one?

No — it is optional. It earns its place if you display the hilt with the blade out, or carry it on a belt clip, because that is when the socket collects grit.

Will it fit my saber?

Go by blade diameter. Our standard plugs fit any 1" socket and the Obi plug also comes in 7/8". Lit plugs need a Base Lit hilt or a Neopixel hilt with a lit connector.

Does a blade plug change my blade colour?

No. Colour and effects are set on the soundboard. A plug only fills the socket, and it goes in when the blade is out.

Can I duel with a plug fitted?

No. Blade plugs are not made for impact and can be damaged by a heavy clash. Remove the plug, fit the blade, then spar.

Will a plug from another brand fit?

Sometimes. Fitment varies between makers, so match the blade diameter rather than the brand, and ask us if you are unsure what your hilt takes.
