Double Bladed Lightsabers

A saberstaff is one long hilt with an emitter at each end, driven by a single soundboard — not two sabers held one in each hand. This collection runs from compact staffs to full-length Darth Maul hilts, in Base Lit and Neopixel builds, assembled and tested by our technicians here in the UK.

A saberstaff is not dual-wielding

The two get confused constantly. Dual-wielding means a separate saber in each hand. A double-bladed lightsaber, or saberstaff, is a single hilt with an emitter at each end driven by one soundboard — so ignition, font, colour and effects stay in sync across the whole weapon. Staffs here ship with two blades as standard.

One long hilt, or two hilts joined

There are two routes to a double-ended saber. The first is a purpose-built staff, most of what you see above. The second is joining two single hilts with a coupler — open, male-to-male or quick-release — letting you run the same pair as one staff or as two independent sabers. Some staffs here separate into two sabers on their own, and some modular hilts go double-ended with no coupler at all. Each product page says which.

Spinning and duelling with a staff

A staff behaves differently to a single saber. Length is the point and the problem: you gain reach and a continuous flourish, and lose the ability to swing without checking what is behind you. Contact work needs wider spacing than single-blade sparring, and spins want a grip near the middle of the hilt. Hilt lengths vary a lot — compact staffs sit near 28cm, full-length ones run past 50cm — so choose for the room you have. New to contact? Start from our duelling lightsabers.

What to check before you buy

Blade diameter first: staffs here come in 1" and 7/8", and replacement blades must match the hilt. Then hilt length, and whether the staff separates into two sabers. Finally blade format — Base Lit pairs with the RGBX soundboard, Neopixel with Xenopixel V3 or Proffie V2.2. Colour and effects are set on the soundboard, not fixed at build. Is a double-bladed lightsaber the same as dual-wielding?

No. Dual-wielding is two separate sabers, one per hand. A double-bladed lightsaber is one hilt with a blade at each end.

Are both blades included?

Yes — staffs ship with two blades as standard, with shorter blade lengths normally offered as an option.

How are both blades controlled?

From one soundboard in the hilt, so ignition, font and effects run across both ends together rather than being set separately.

Can a double-bladed lightsaber split into two sabers?

Some do; others are a fixed staff. The specifications on each product page say which, so check before ordering.

Can I build a staff from two sabers I already own?

Often, yes — that is what a coupler is for. Match the coupler to your hilts before ordering; our couplers and parts are listed separately.
