One Jedi, four lightsabers

A “Kenobi lightsaber” depends entirely on which era you mean. He fights Darth Maul on Naboo with his Padawan saber and loses it down the reactor shaft; he builds a replacement echoing Qui-Gon Jinn’s design as a tribute to his master; a third, more refined hilt carries him through the Clone Wars to Mustafar; and the fourth is the weathered hilt of his Tatooine exile. Why the hilt looks so plain

Kenobi’s hilts are deliberately understated: exposed control ribbing, a bare metal emitter, almost no ornament. That restraint is the point — Jedi design was function over display, and it reads calm next to a Sith weapon. Ours are machined from aircraft-grade aluminium to the same silhouette, and the emitters, grips and pommels are all replaceable.

On screen

The first Kenobi hilt ignites in The Phantom Menace, in the Naboo duel alongside Qui-Gon Jinn. The version most people picture, though, is the A New Hope hilt — the one he lowers as Vader strikes. His blade read blue on screen throughout, and the saber he hands Luke on Tatooine is Anakin’s, not his own.

Choosing your Kenobi saber

Every hilt here comes in two blade formats. Base Lit pairs with an RGBx soundboard and is the best-value way into duelling; Neopixel pairs with Xenopixel or Proffie for a fully lit blade and flash-on-clash. Blade colour and effects are set on the soundboard, not fixed at purchase — what makes it a Kenobi saber is the hilt and the preloaded sound font. Keep spare blades to hand if you spar.

How did Obi-Wan Kenobi get his lightsaber?

He built them. Constructing your own weapon is part of Jedi training, and Obi-Wan made a new hilt each time he lost one. He did carry Qui-Gon Jinn’s saber briefly after Naboo, then built his own replacement in that style.

Did Obi-Wan construct his own lightsaber?

Yes — more than once. The best-known build is the hilt he made after Revenge of the Sith, which is the one he carries in A New Hope.

What happened to his lightsaber after his death?

It fell to the Death Star floor when Vader struck him down, and is never recovered on screen. The saber Luke inherits is Anakin’s — the two are often confused.

Can I use one for an Obi-Wan cosplay?
